concealed sounds return with a new 12 for 2014. this time around we have invited our friends from mysteries sylphe label to remix the title track by martinez, and they delivered a monster! on the a side we find >consolidation (sylphe lydlos dub)<, were we are taken a true journey thru sound and rhythms for about 13 minutes. the remix kicks off in a kind of tracky way, with a strong focus on the irresistible groove laid down by holdie gawn & micawber. after the first small breaks and manipulations to the groove, we are introduced to some very trippy modular sound design. these sounds takes the lead of the remix and forms into small melodies in a very organic way. while you can still sense the ingredient from the original track, sylphe takes a slightly different directions and offers a good opposite to the original with their own special twist. the original version of >consolidations< is presented on the b side of this 12. its a dirty groove ridden track that goes on for well over 10 minutes, developing from a broken groove into a more danceable techno pieces, with its shattering metallic sounds, bubbly baselines, deep layers of sub rhythms and lush pad chords to give it some more atmosphere. two very different version of modern instalment in techno music. we hope you enjoy it as much as we do… and as always there is a special hidden track on this 12.

having released on some of the most influential labels, it is with great honor that audio culture welcomes the montreal based artist, nautiluss, to the family. the solstice ep consists of three tracks and finds nautiluss exploring warmer, more euphoric territories, and he does it right whilst still retaining the boldness and toughness of his past work. the ep flows effortlessly from the big string euphoria on solstice to the darker tones on corvus passing the slightly off kilter shuffle on neptune. without a doubt these will heat up any dancefloor in the cold winter months ahead.

more fresh & effective techno tools from blue hour. limited clear vinyl with insert and poly sleeve... in quick succession after his debut ep, blue hour continues to deliver raw & effective techno on his self-titled imprint. the second release >axis motive< pushes the next instalment forward into slightly austere, jacking territory.

the first vinyl record from betagamma bears the name of the most extraordinary and fascinating reptile. it is no coincidence. the imprint is given by both betagammas main occupation and his love of minimalism and techno. either way, the track references science. a slightly oddish, popping groove as if someone opened up a terrarium cage. the record features interesting and crazy remixes, clearly everyone has their own geckos in the attic.

first appearance of this small-scale vinyl imprint from the east of holland with a split-release by the well-respected aroy dee (m>o>s, delsin, rush hour, dolly) and perseus traxx (bunker, m>o>s). both of them are known for their deep analogue house music productions with raw and sharp edges, but most recognizable in their work is the presence of true emotions. this will also be the distinctive element for the labels future output: emotive electronic music with the soul deep within. honest and unpolished music that is inspired by everyday life, whether it comes from pain or joy. perseus traxx kicks off with an immersive, slow building and uplifting track, followed by a moody but hypnotic and slightly acid inspired piece. aroy dee takes care of the flip-side, with a dreamy and atmospheric track, and one raw, surprising and energetic cut. a versatile selection of tracks

now hitting release number six, fly by night music serves up something slightly different from riccio (bosconi // super value), complete with a remix from craig smith (6th borough project), for its latest offering. this is an equally classy release but more of an obvious disco tip. coming in a press of 200 limited blue vinyl and a letter press sleeve, this is another boutique package from fbnm. the man behind the jungle way ep is italian riccardo zanaroli aka riccio, who most recently appeared on the widely lauded bosconi compilation bosconi stallions. a dj, collector, producer and record seller, riccio is a staple on the italian scene and brings plenty of louche disco funk to this release.

the two mamarrachos drop a limited edition 2 track 10 inch on is it balearic..? en calma is a laid-back balearic shuffler with soft drums and dreamy lead guitar. drenched in mediterranean sunshine. on the flip trip to the light is a slightly more uptempo percussive groove layered with folky strummed guitar. perfect remedy to the winter nights. play this and drift back to warmer times.

then last up to wind down the ep, tuccillo turns in so hot feat. ch brown dropping the tempo slightly and introducing mr. browns hypnotic vocal lines alongside raw rhythms and tweaking acid bass.

qbeck first made a splash on the international tech-house scene when seth troxler and crew released his track alice on a visionquest label compilation last year. now alessio mereu is pleased to scoop up the ukrainian producer for a full ep on amam, titled railway mood. eureka has an irresistible galloping groove, with an off-kilter tick-tock giving a countdown to eternity. soon, after the slightly unnerving melodic plucking sounds, you can hear breathy gasps punctuating the atmosphere as if a human being is trapped inside the track. and maybe youll get sucked in too!

review: japans 9dw release their first track for is it balearic..? right on is a super chilled loopy slo mo disco gem. touches of soft acid and boogie bassline make this a certain for the more discerning dancefloor. the mushrooms project remix creates an ever growing tribal dubby trip with what sounds like a jews harp thrown in for good measure. mesmerising. the b side features a track that has been an iib favourite for a couple of years since it was heard live in loop tokyo. this slowave almost out of sync techy chugger is not like anything else. evolving with analogue synths and stabs to become a heads downs stomper. international man of mystery man power adds man power to the track and creates a slightly darker journey into synth land

great follow up of dolly dubs 01! once again staffan lindberg is delivering. his nice & smooth the orbit is a great & optimistic club track that will have the sun shine on any floor, with the mighty trevino remix adding a slightly rough edge to the original version. but dont let the easy-going fool you! the b-side dives in deeper territories with y2k that reminds a bit of early kevin saunderson works, and feel like dancing, which is a proper sexy house burner for the morning hours. wonderful & diverse release.

praterei turns 8, if releases were years and to celebrate, proffers a stamped 10 from label swami, 7 citizens. >do your head in< is charged with a side duties and a bit of a cerebral poke it is too. flirting somewhere betwixt both reverie and nightmare, it’s as playful as it is tormenting. it invites you round for a cup of tea, slaps you about a bit and calls you names before putting you to bed and whispering slightly sexy things in your lughole. >stride< is an altogether less hairy affair. its honest. its honest about the fact you are going to need a safe word. an acid romp with unwavering purpose.

following on from the jtc 12 inch earlier in the year. hoya:hoya return with a 3 track ep from altered natives the a side is an completely unapologetic club banger which was swiftly signed after seeing the reaction to it when danny native opened his set with it at the club. the b side offers 2 slightly more experimental, yet still hard hitting tracks.

after three sold out releases on gamm the edit king the reflex is back with vol.4 in his re-vision series! this time around he goes slightly more rare groove-ish than before with three amazing re-edits.
first up blood sweat & tears gets a breakbeat rework that kills the original by the miles if you ask us. the dope jazz brake in the middle is extra nice.

on uncanny valley s catalogue number 18 we finally welcome back credit 00 who is a man in charge of a decent collection of those dusty machines we all love. after the ice cold the living room life ep from 2012, his brand new record ice cream is easy to fall in love with. packed with tunes to suit various moods in life, it will be a faithful companion in dark basements or lonesome hours. ice cream starts deliciously with its sleazy sample choice. with the distinctive drum work it builds up to a true chicago-inspired dance floor banger. round n round hits hard with a harsh kick and cowbell action before it shows off slightly melancholic lead synths and a subtle but effective bass line and puts the emphasis on the fact that things go round and round. life s a dizzy affair. east of nowhere with that bass line-sound is credit 00 to the core. and with spooky synths he puts you to an east of nowhere-place where you will lose yourself in manic trance-like dancing. the record ends with red wine , a slightly different electronic love song sung by credit 00. the cover artwork was created by alexander dorn.

the wandering artists are back for the third instalment of the birdsmakingmachine series, this time again going deeply into the abysses of house music. >multiverse<, occupying the whole a-side, is a deep dancefloor affair filled with endless pads which, having been layered onto elaborate drum grooves, fuse together into the endless horizon. the b-side goes into similar territory, while still managing to create a slightly different ambience: >40th of may< uses intricately groovy steel drum patterns on a long, never-ending journey through the deep depths of the ocean, as for the end credits, >dune< rounds off the ep with an instantly hypnotising groove that melts into delayed vocals, slightly darker pads and a galloping, yet smooth sine-wave bassline.

- slightly harder sound this time out, with a deep and dark tech house vibe rich with ominous synths and engaging effects that subtly build and build. flip for an even more techno slanted sound with manic synths, and detroit flavored rhythms that burst into an energized tech house finish. these guys are definitely fine tuning their sound

dj rocca kicks off his new release with a bouncy, deep and machine driven track laced with occasional synth stabs and highlighted with simple but effective percussion. next up is a wonderful track weaving in out of a harmonic house theme and a synth heavy banger. this tune will definitely drop some jaws and raise some eyebrows on the dance floor with dancers mesmerized by the lightness with which rocca switches up the game in one tune. to finish up the ep the b-side serves up a house heavy theme with a slightly distorted vocal and a more psychedelic slow jam perfect for the next late-late session.

meditative, absorbing dance music in true moritz style — at times seemingly transfixed by its own elements, and minimal almost to vanishing-point, but quickly back ticking, kicking and amassing, with the lethal dubwise density of the classic berlin sound. twelve minutes long, trenchant and forbidding but sharply alive, the dub itself is a kind of deep fort-da gambit which scoops your brain out for a quick sluice, before replacing it slightly skewiff. dont drop your guard because of the tresor.

beach mode (keep it simple) is the perfect snapshot of ikonikas new album aerotropolis. it is also her first vocal track, graced with the voice of *one to watch*, jessy lanza. beach mode combines sunny salsa-like chords and claves, inspired by latin freestyle dance music from the 80s, with jessys vocals cutting in over some soaring rough synths. it is a refreshingly straight forward and sensual piece of pop dance. side b starts with a dub mix for all the vocal haters, while the percapella version breaks it down into a syncopated drum track and a slightly dubbed take on the vocals, giving it a tracky and colder toughness reminiscent of early chicago house music. get into beach mode.

canadian producer kevin mcphee made his idle hands debut back in 2011 with sleep and house 44 over a year on, he returns to the label with two floor friendly, house leaning cuts. a-side unwind takes the bumping bottom end and swung drums of early sneak and pairs it with punchy horn stabs and an infectious vocal hook. b-side, a jam, is slightly more subdued but equally as jacking with mcphees trademark loose percussion providing the foundation for lush uk house pads and a heavyweight bassline.

an entirely new label with fresh artists from any direction. both tracks compiled on this release are deep and spheric in their mood, similar in style, but rather different and special in their shapes of individuality. the a-side delivers a slightly straight and powerful track from alma. carried by soft moog-basses and playful spheric breaks in addition to an authentic summer groove it is definitely suitable to create open-air feeling - a glistening interpretation of a green morning. gebby dibson contributed an emotional and slow house production to the b-side of this release. in so doing, they patterned pretty versatile varieties of electronic styles. in this case its hard to classify, but joyful to listen to… just beautiful.

the italians are coming! luca ballerini with the 2nd awesome release on musical methaphor. this time slightly on a detroit tip with some classic house tracks with some light melodic topping, and an additional rio padice remix who adds some jazzy and funky sample flavor. recommended!

after the joyful mess caused by brandy on adventurous dancefloors, qoso goes deeperwith three subwoofer-friendly tracks mixing house, techno, and just enough sonic dirt. hard on the boulevard has proved its efficiency already on some of the sweatiest parisian dancefloors. solidely grounded on a a slightly saturating bassline, it gets its driving force from a melodic sample fighting to get out of its cutoff filters and will sneaky easily as a peaktime weapon in every dj bag. it is as simple a that, really.

illusion recordings is bringing an absolute stomper from the appropriately titled ny stomp with a track called >the ny house track<. a massive track inspired by new york, jersey house music and designed to get every party rocking! ny stomp is a special project by gerd (clone/4lux) who made this track to add to his live set with no intention to release it. it was just a cut made for his live sets and done as an hommage to the early days of ny and nj house. however after playing this at a party from the illusion guys in leeds he got tortured by the guys to make him release it... and lets be honest... it would have been a shame if these cuts never made it to vinyl! one the flip side a slightly more introvert track calles >can you feel it<. on remix duty its nicholas and dj aakmael both doing an excellent job by smoothening things up and take things a bit deeper. proper house music!

boris bunnik goes under many aliases. numerous smaller projects, some huge faceless projects but mostly known and well respected for his conforce project. as versalife he found his way to the clone familia for his night time activities project, and around this same period we just managed to pull out the best suitable tracks for frustrated funk. versalife is electro-techno in its purest form. deep and intense analog rhythms with crisp percussion patterns slightly touching the more experimental side of things. this ep is a nice balanced mixture of industrial drone material to more classic sounding electro with versalifes own signature strength. highly recommended as always!

with making his solo debut on ftw recordingz, elia vens only reveals a small fragment of his musical diversity. on side a, he really pulls out all stops with the track >jamon<. the distinctive baseline and the pumping kicks on this track will definitely light the fire for an inferno on the dance floor. high spirits guaranteed!
in contrast, the flying flute edit doesnt come like a bull at a gate and initially appears slightly atmospheric and subtle. the deep toms and analogous drums still care for a drifty groove and colour the track in a fragile paint of house. emotions culminate in the hypnotic flute playing right in the middle of the track which hijacks you to a journey of elia vens. enjoy your flight!

the a side arbitrary stakes out its intentions early with a solid groove and dubbed out stabs. a little vocal in the main breakdown increases the tension before it all kicks back in with a reassuring thud. on the flip galaxy high is equally deep but opts for some juno chords and soaring strings to bring it life. finally on lgb some 80s soul samples are worked in to a slightly tougher electronic jam.
